A Lattice Diamond Clasp on a Double Strand of Pearls

A Lattice Diamond Clasp on a Double Strand of Pearls

A client fell for one extraordinary diamond, then asked us to build a double-strand pearl necklace worthy of it: an open gold lattice clasp that cradles a 1.51-carat round brilliant, framed by a beaded halo and marquise diamond clusters at every corner.

Most of our Jewelry Replicator commissions begin with a photograph. This one began with a stone. The client had already chosen a 1.51-carat, D-color, VVS2, ideal-cut lab-grown round brilliant, and came to us with a clear picture of the piece that would hold it: keep the silhouette of their reference, but open it up with airier, more floral lattice work and accent diamonds arranged like petals, then price the whole necklace as one design — clasp, center diamond, accent diamonds, and a double strand of AAA pearls.

The center diamond

The heart of the necklace is a laboratory-grown round brilliant with an unusually clean spec sheet. It is a D color (the top of the colorless scale) with VVS2 clarity, cut to ideal proportions with excellent polish and symmetry — the kind of stone that returns light evenly from edge to edge.

Quick facts on the stone: 1.51 carats, measuring 7.41 × 7.41 × 4.53 mm, with a 56% table, 61.2% depth, no fluorescence, and a GCAL certificate (report LG360976046). If you would like to see it turning in the light and read the full grading, you can view this exact diamond on our site.

The pearls: a double strand of AAA

Around that diamond runs a double strand — two rows — of white AAA pearls. For the pearl quality, the client pointed to one of our reference necklaces: a True AAA Akoya cultured double-strand in 6.5 to 7 mm white pearls. That reference sets the tone for the two-row piece: bright lustre, tight matching, and a warm white body color that flatters the yellow gold of the clasp.

The clasp: an open gold lattice

The clasp is where this design earns its name, and it does double duty — it is both the centerpiece of the necklace and its closure. A rectangular panel of open yellow-gold lattice holds the round brilliant inside a beaded, milgrain-edged halo, with fine beaded spokes fanning out from the center like a star. Small round accent diamonds sit along those spokes, and a cluster of marquise diamonds anchors each of the four corners in a leaf-and-petal motif. The airy openwork keeps a substantial centerpiece feeling light against the skin, and the two pearl rows attach to gold loops on either side.

Where the design stands

Our design team confirmed early on that the piece was buildable: a supporting setting carries the accent diamonds across the multi-strand choker without crowding the pearls. The client has since acquired the center diamond, and we are now refining a smaller, more delicate two-row silhouette — the beaded halo and marquise-cornered lattice you see here. It is a working direction, not a finished quote, but it captures where the necklace is headed.

Design your own

Every piece like this starts as a conversation. If you have a diamond you love — or only a picture of something you have seen — our design team can build a lattice, a halo, or a full multi-strand piece around it. You can begin by browsing loose diamonds, or design your own diamond pendant, and we will take it from there.

Frequently asked

What is the center diamond in this necklace?

A 1.51-carat lab-grown round brilliant, D color, VVS2 clarity, ideal cut with excellent polish and symmetry, certified by GCAL (report LG360976046).

What kind of pearls does it use?

A double (two-row) strand of white AAA pearls. The quality benchmark for the commission was a True AAA Akoya cultured double-strand in 6.5 to 7 mm white pearls.

Is this a stock necklace or a custom piece?

It is a custom Jewelry Replicator commission. The lattice clasp, the center diamond, the accent diamonds, and the number of pearl strands can all be adapted to your own vision.

Yes. The lattice clasp is designed to hold a center stone of your choosing, with a supporting setting for the accent diamonds around it.

How do I start a similar design?

Tell our design team about the diamond or the look you have in mind and we will reply by email, or start online by choosing a loose diamond or designing your own pendant.

To recap the pieces behind this commission: the center is this 1.51 ct round brilliant diamond, the pearls take their cue from our True AAA Akoya double-strand necklace, and you can begin your own version any time by choosing to design your own diamond pendant.
