Golden pearl earrings from American Pearl are carefully matched for color, luster, shape and overtone. When our staff sets out to match two cultured pearls to be set in earrings, we make sure that both pearls in the earring set are carefully calibrated for size such that both pearl are exactly the same millimeter size or within a tenth of a millimeter from one another. We use electronic calipers to accomplish this.
Once the two pearsl are calibrated for size, our pearl experts scan the surfaces of the two pearls by endlessly rotating them to find the best position where both pearl earrings match each other best for luster and color. We call this the "face" of the pearl. As you turn pearls, there are slight visual variations in luster and color.
By turning a single pearl one at a time through all its positions, our experts can match the best color and luster match of both pearls and make sure that they are both facing forward. Once the positions for setting are established, both pearls are carefully marked for drilling. A .7mm drill bit is used to pierce the pearl half way before installing the cup and post setting for the pearls. The products featured above are shown with screw back settings where a threaded post and backing are applied for extra security. Although this is not the default setting, you have the option of changing the setting to your particular needs.
Before ordering, you can choose the pearl setting you would like if it is different from what is pictured above. As pears increase in cost, many consumers feel that they should be secured with more than the standard push-backs that are easy to take apart. A screw back pearl setting requires many rotations of the backing to become installed or removed from the post. As such, screw backs are less likely to come apart that push backs.
American Pearl chooses the most saturated color golden pearls as its default selection. We call this color "24K Color" color as it is the purest golden color pearl available in the marketplace and likened to pure gold. |
